How can I setup slide transitions of less than 1 second?

Microsoft Office PowerPoint user interface allows you to setup slide transition times in minutes and seconds in MM:SS format.

You can set it up as follows:

PowerPoint 2010, 2007 PowerPoint 2003, 2002
  1. Select the Animations tab in the Ribbon.
  2. Look for Advance Slide box in the Transition to This Slide group:
    PowerPoint Advance Slide
  1. Select Slide Show | Slide Transition... menu item.
  2. In the Slide Transition task pane, look for Advance slide section:
    PowerPoint Advance Slide

What is little known is that this MM:SS format (00:00) accepts sub-seconds too. The format is MM:SS.ss. So if you want to have the slides transition at 0.1 seconds (100 milliseconds), then enter the slide advance times as 00:00.10 as follows:

PowerPoint 2010, 2007 PowerPoint 2003, 2002
  1. Select the Animations tab in the Ribbon.
  2. Look for Advance Slide box in the Transition to This Slide group:
    PowerPoint Advance Slide
  1. Select Slide Show | Slide Transition... menu item.
  2. In the Slide Transition task pane, look for Advance slide section:
    PowerPoint Advance Slide

As you can see PowerPoint does accept the sub-second transition times and it does obey those as well.
