I am trying to load an add-in but its not getting added to the Add-ins list. What could be the problem?

This usually happens when the macro security settings are set to High. Microsoft PowerPoint does not load the add-in and also does not show any message. You will need to turn the macro security settings to Medium.

PowerPoint 2013, 2010, 2007 PowerPoint 2003, 2002, 2000
  1. Select the Office Button or press Alt+F key combination.
  2. Click PowerPoint Options button.
  3. Select Trust Center in the left pane.
  4. Click Trust Center Settings button in the right pane.
  5. Select Macro Settings in the left pane.
  6. Select Disable all macros with notification option.
  7. Click OK buttons.
  1. Select Tools | Macro | Security.
  2. In the Security Level page, select Medium.
  3. Click OK to dismiss the dialog box.

After installing the add-in, you might want to turn the macro security settings back to High. It won't affect the already installed add-ins because of another option:

  1. Select Tools | Macro | Security.
  2. Select the Trusted Sources page.
  3. Make sure that Trust all installed add-ins and templates is checked.
