Display multiple slide shows synchronous with each other using Matrox TripleHead2Go
Matrox TripleHead2Go is a VGA video splitter box to allow 3 displays to be connected to the system. The way it provides this capability is to tell Windows that there is only one monitor but with a dimension 3 times the normal monitor width. The Matrox TripleHead2Go box splits the display content across three outputs on its own. This technique requires only one input but can output different content through different displays.
With Matrox TripleHead2Go, to show 3 slide shows one on each monitor, synchronous with each other in a way that when you navigate one slide show, the other slide show also navigates simultaneously, we will use the Synchronous Shows and TickerShow features of OfficeOne PowerShow.
The Synchronous Shows feature of OfficeOne PowerShow allows us to configure one presentation as the Master presentation and others as Follower presentations. When we navigate the Master slide show, OfficeOne PowerShow navigates the Follower slide shows to match the Master slide show. We will use Pres1.ppt as the Master presentation and Pres2.ppt and Pres3.ppt as the Follower presentation:
  1. Select Slide Show | Prepare Sync Show item.
  2. Select Pres1.ppt as the master presentation.
  3. Select Pres2.ppt and Pres3.ppt as the Follow presentation.
  4. Click OK button.
  5. Save Pres1.ppt, Pres2.ppt and Pres3.ppt presentations.
Please visit Synchronous Shows webpage to know about this feature and also some things to consider when using the Synchronous Shows feature.
The TickerShow feature allows multiple slide shows to be displayed simultaneously on the same monitor. It requires a Layout presentation that specifies the position and dimensions of the slide shows on the monitor. For TripleHead2Go's triple-width monitor, we would use the layout presentation available here (layout_triplehead2go.ppt). The layout presentation specifies three presentations Pres1.ppt, Pres2.ppt and Pres3.ppt. Each of these presentation covers different slices of the triple-width monitor. Effectively, this makes each presentation appear fully on a monitor.
Following are step-by-step instructions:
  1. Open Pres1.ppt, Pres2.ppt, Pres3.ppt and layout_triplehead2go.ppt in PowerPoint.
  2. Select Slide Show | Ticker Show item.
  3. Select the monitor 2 as it is the one that has TripleHead2Go attached to it.
  4. Select layout_triplehead2go.ppt in TickerShow Layout Presentation box.
  5. Click Start Show button.
This will start Pres1.ppt on one monitor, Pres2.ppt on second monitor and Pres3.ppt on third monitor of Matrox TripleHead2Go. When Pres1.ppt navigates through the slide show, OfficeOne PowerShow will navigate Pres2.ppt and Pres3.ppt as well.
