Configuring Multi-Monitor on Matrox Millennium G400

Matrox Millennium G400 display card supports up to 4 monitors. It supports True Multi-monitor mode that is required for PowerShow (http://www.officeoneonline.com/powershow/powershow.html) as well as PowerPoint to recognize and utilize the multi-monitor capabilities of G400. Since G400 supports only the True Multi-monitor mode, your can simply install the card and accept the defaults that are set by the drivers.

The following screen-shot is for a machine that has Matrox Millenium G400 having 4 monitors and an additional display card with 1 monitor. This machine has in all 5 monitors connected to it. This single machine drives 5 slide shows simultaneously using PowerShow. The only thing that you need to make sure is that Windows should be configured to use all monitors as follows:

  1. Connect monitors to both the display outputs of the video card.
  2. Go to Display Properties dialog box by selecting Start | Settings | Control Panel menu item and launching Display applet.
  3. Go to the Settings tab.
  4. Click on monitor 2 and check against the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box as shown below. Click other monitors and make sure that the check box is checked for all of them.

In True Multi-monitor mode, you have both the monitors available for use. You can configure them to have different resolutions and color depths. Select the monitor in the Display Settings and set the Colors and Screen area individually.
